Question by play_festivity: Computer won’t detect hard drive after I choose load setup default?
Normally I can boot into windows with the OC profile from my Asus motherboard. So just for fun, I chose load setup default, and it says JMicron Controller can’t detect hard drive. Then my computer freezes when loading into Windows 7, followed by a quick blue screen of death and my computer restarts.

What’s wrong with the load setup default? I’m on an Asus Rampage II Extreme motherboard by the way. Thanks!

Question by infinite zero: How do I setup a cdrom drive so that the computer can detect it?
(running xp)
I just got a random computer, and it’s not actually CD ROMting the CDROM drive. The drive can open and close fine, but in “my computer” there’s no icon for it.

When I right click C: then properties and then go in the hardware tab, I still don’t see it.

I even opened up the tower and checked the connections, they all seem fine.

What’s the problem?
I just got a random computer, and it’s not actually reading the CDROM drive.

The part that makes a clicking noise is the hard drive. If you want, you can set your system to turn hard drives off after a certain period of time (this is under control panel • power options). Alternatively, you can simply shut your system down if you’re not using it, and save some electricity.
